About

Humans

It started with technology and with computers. What we use them for, how we interact with them, how we can use them to improve our lives.

I spent 15 years providing high technology solutions to front line emergency services. Carefully working through every scenario, designing every element, streamlining every workflow to ensure that vital support was there at every moment we could make possible.

Then, in 2015, I took all of those principles and designed a kitchen for myself. That was the spark, the moment where I understood that everything I’d learnt about technology and the emergency services was just as applicable to everyday life.

Not only that but it was valuable. Off the shelf solutions make critical compromises to reduce cost and maximise production.

Since 2015 I’ve designed and built kitchens, bathrooms, book and game storage solutions, cinema rooms and home offices – always with the same principles. The single most important factor is ergonomics; what we humans want to achieve from the space and how – not in theory but reality – we will interact with it.

We don’t have to live with clumsy, inefficient environments. We can make it better.

The Environment

It’s everything that’s around us. The chair, the path, the field, the train, the air, the temperature, the probability of flooding.

We, humanity, have enormous power but with that enormous power comes enormous responsibility. Whilst we work to make our environments work for us, we must also honour and respect the wider environment.

There is no planet B.

That is fundamental to everything we do, how we work, how we play, how we live. At it’s heart it is the epitome of simplicity: everything we do must be sustainable. When taken in fully in context, we must be able to repeat it indefinitely without destroying our global habitat.

Since the industrial revolution, we have not been living sustainably. We need to change that. Now.

Our environment is key to everything we do at DIB Projects. We’re passionate about every aspect, from making sure the spatula is always there when you need it to using locally sources materials and sustainable techniques in everything we build.
